The amount will be used for the purchase of medicines and other relief goods that will be given out to sick flood victims who need to be treated and for DZMM TLC clinic-on-wheels’ future projects.
Country Chairman of Shell Companies in the Philippines Edgar Chua and PSFI Executive Director Edgardo Veron-Cruz personally handed over the donation to DZMM TLC.
ABS-CBN Manila Radio Division head Peter Musngi said the donation from PSFI is its symbol of trust in the DZMM project and of the camaraderie and unity of Filipinos in times of trouble.
“This is major because we still want to go to more areas and help more Filipinos. We want to give them not only free consultation and prescription but also free medication so they can recuperate, work again, and be productive,” Musngi said.
DZMM TLC was first rolled out in 2010 to promote health and spark children’s interest in learning areas gravely devastated by typhoon Ondoy by giving free medical services and holding feeding programs and teaching sessions. The innovative project also won awards at the 2012 Anvil Awards and 2011 Philippine Quill Awards, which recognize outstanding communication and public relations programs.
Besides DZMM TLC, the PSFI also donated P1 million to ABS-CBN Foundation’s Sagip Kapamilya.
