During the pictorial and story conference of GMA-7’s upcoming drama series Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka?, actress Jackie Rice admitted to reporters that she and her non-showbiz boyfriend are technically in a “cool-off” situation after a recent misunderstanding.
“Mejo hiwalay kami, pero as of now friends kami. Pero tina-try namin na mag-work ‘yung dati. Siyempre ayoko namang madaliin kasi ang tagal na namin,” she said in an interview.
Jackie immediately clarified, however, that the split-up was not caused by a third party, but a few misunderstandings.
“May mga bagay na hindi kami nagkakaintindihan – mga maliliit na bagay nagkakaaway kami. Siyempre nagkakaroon din ng misunderstandings. So, ngayon parang nanliligaw ulit.”
So, since she is technically single, is she willing to entertain suitors?
“Ayoko rin. Sobrang gusto ko lang ng space. Gusto kong makilala pa namin ang isa’t isa (on a) deeper (level). Hindi ko rin naman gustong magkaroon ng iba. Ang tagal na namin e.”
Jackie adds that both she and her ex-boyfriend are exerting a lot of effort to “work things out.”
“Wino-work out namin‘yun kasi ayoko naman ‘yung papalit-palit. Sayang naman ‘yung mga taong pinagsamahan namin.”
Long-time couples who reunite after a break up usually decide to get married. Is she ready to take that same road should she and her ex-boyfriend reunite soon?
“Siguro ‘pag mga 29 to 31 years old na ako. Matagal pa. Hindi ko pa talaga nai-imagine ang life ko na may asawa na. Parang hindi pa din ako sure kasi ibang level na kasi yun ng buhay. Hindi siya biro so kailangan ready ka talaga. I’m sure siya rin hindi pa ready kasi mga bata pa kami e.”
Jackie’s new afternoon soap Kasalanan Bang Ibigin Ka? premieres on June 4 in GMA’s Afternoon Prime block.
