ABS-CBN sets the stage for brilliant Filipino composers to share their musical masterpieces to the world as it launches the Philippines’ biggest multimedia songwriting competition “Himig Handog” with the theme, “Pinoy Pop (P-POP) Love Songs.”
Now on its 5th year, “Himig Handog” makes music history once again as it continues to search for exceptional musical talents with endearing uniquely ‘Pinoy’ love songs that can transcend generations and stand out in the world like some of today’s OPM classic love songs which were popularized through “Himig Handog” including ‘Hanggang’ which was interpreted by Wency Cornejo; ‘Kung Ako Na Lang Sana’ by Bituin Escalante; ‘Kung Ako Ba S’ya’ by Piolo Pascual; ‘Bye Bye Na’ by Rico Blanco; and ‘This Guy’s In Love With You Pare’ by Parokya ni Edgar.
“Himig Handog: P-POP Love Songs” is open to any Filipino composer (Filipino citizen or Filipino descent); here and abroad, amateur or professional; an individual composer and/or lyricist, or up to three individual composers and/or individual lyricists collaborating for one entry. An individual composer may submit a maximum of two entries. Entries may be written in Filipino, English or Taglish, and in any popular music genre or a fusion of known genres.
Filipino songwriters worldwide can start submitting their best original love songs online via the official website of “Himig Handog” at http://himighandog.abs-cbn.com and its official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/HimigHandogPPop.
