“Supremo,” a brave new film that tackles for the first time the trial of the hero from Tondo under the revolutionary government of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo. The trial has been dismissed by some historians as a bit of moro-moro.
Alfred Vargas was the chosen one to play this great role of our hero Abres Bonifacio. “Supremo” will mostly be in Bagac, Bataan where turn-of-the century edifices are perfect for his set.
Alfred isn’t the first to act out the Andres Bonifacio character in a movie, however. In the late ’60s or early ’70s, an independent film company cast Eddie del Mar and Lolita Rodriguez in “Ang Supremo,” which also told the story of Bonifacio, albeit avoiding his trial.
