The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), the most popular basketball league in the Philippines, is gaining more viewers in the country as AKTV goes full blast in its coverage of the games. This is cranked up with the sports channel’s successful “Kampihan na!” campaign for the PBA teams.
Two months into its partnership with the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), AKTV has managed to heighten Filipinos’ interest on the PBA games and hook more audiences with the ongoing Philippine Cup. TV viewership is steadily increasing. In fact, the PBA‘s most watched game happened last Sunday, December 4, when the Barangay Ginebra VS Meralco Bolts duel garnered more than 1.1 million viewers (based on Nielsen Media Ratings’ NUTAM data).
There is also marked increase in gate attendance. The B-MEG Llamados VS Barangay Ginebra Kings game was one of the most watched game during the elimination round of the ongoing Philippine Cup, filling the Smart-Araneta Coliseum to the rafters with 14, 280 spectators. Incidentaly, it was also the second highest watched game on television (NUTAM, Nielsen Media Ratings).
AKTV is the primetime sports block on IBC 13 where the PBA games are shown. It also airs various sports programs like the PBA D-League, United Football League, Pacific X-Treme Combat. The Sports Channel aims to become the local authority in sports and active lifestyle for the Filipino Public.
