October 1, 2011 – In an effort to make a difference in people’s lives, whether through health and fitness or doing a good turn for others, Fitness First called on Filipinos to join Fitness Xplosion 2011, the biggest charity fitness marathon in the Philippines last October 1 at the SMX Convention Center in SM Mall of Asia. With around 1,000 participants, the event featured seven group exercise classes for a full day of heart-pumping, body-sweating and endorphin-flowing workouts.
Proceeds of Fitness Xplosion will support Gawad Kalinga, a non-profit organization that aims to build empowered and self-sufficient communities to eradicate poverty.
“The funds we generated out of the event will help build homes and offer a sustainable source of income to impoverished neighborhoods. We chose Gawad Kalinga as our beneficiary because we believe that its projects contribute relevant solutions to the country’s most significant problem—poverty,” Fitness First Country Manager Mark Ellis said.
Fitness Xplosion not only featured Fitness First’s top rated group exercise classes such as RPM, Retro, Body Combat and Body Jam but also showcased three new and unique programs to hit the clubs beginning October.
Kick-starting the new group exercise classes in Fitness First clubs is Drums Alive, a program that incorporates drum sticks, exercise ball and lively music to create a holistic workout experience by combining rhythm from the drums with active movement to keep the body working and the mind active. Aside from improving physical health, Drums Alive also releases tension, eases stress, improves concentration and enhances sensory and motor coordination.
Next is the fun and effective Zumba class that features addictive high-energy dance routines with a mix of Latin and international rhythms to burn fat and tone the body. This easy-to-follow and calorie-burning workout routine will let you shed pounds in no time!
Finally, Fitness First also brings Sh’Bam, the perfect group exercise class that allows you to shape up and let your inner star out by combining the hottest dance party moves and the latest chart-topping music in one exciting and heart-pumping workout. A great cardio exercise that can burn up to 500 calories in 45 minutess, Sh’Bam uses both and upper lower body in its dance routines.
“Our members asked for it so now we bring them three new equally enjoyable and effective exercise programs that definitely inject a dose of fun and excitement into their regular workout regimen and help them attain their health goals. We are very excited to preview these classes in Fitness Xplosion 2011 to give our current members the opportunity to be the first to try them out. These classes, like our club’s other popular group workout programs, can be customized to suit different interests, personalities and fitness levels,” Fitness First National Group Exercise Manager Yee Sin Teoh explains.
