The Manila government on Friday recognized GMA Network Inc. chair and chief executive Felipe Gozon as one of the Outstanding Manilans, according to a “24 Oras” newscast Friday.
The award seeks to give recognition to men and women who were born, lived, or studied in the city, and whose achievements in their profession have contributed to the development of Manila, the report said.
Gozon received the award during a testimonial dinner at the Maynila Ballroom of the historic Manila Hotel Friday. The awarding ceremony was part of the 440th Araw ng Maynila celebrations.
Apart from Gozon, other media executives who received the award were Dr. Emilio Yap III, Manila Bulletin executive vice president for advertising, and Miguel Belmonte, Philippine Star president and chief executive.
Gozon, Yap, and Belmonte were cited for espousing objective journalism in the country, the report said.
Other awardees were Justice Andres Reyes for judicial administration, Justice Conchita Carpio Morales for law and jurisprudence, and Gen. Raul M. Bacalzo for public service and law enforcement.
Completing the list were Ambassador Bienvenido Tantoco Sr. for diplomacy and corporate leadership, Nina Lim Yuson for culture values formation, Andrew Tan for business entrepreneurship and management, and Fr. Jose Arcilla S.J. for education and history.
