During her live interview last Friday night on State of The Nation with Jessica Soho, Marlene Aguilar shouted out loud: “Maraming Salamat din po Channel 7. I love Channel 7!”.
Following her interview with Aguilar, Soho also conducted an interview with Renato Ebarle Sr., the father of one of Jason Ivler’s supposed victims.
Aguilar may not be the most important interview subject and of course should not be on the lead of a newscast, like what SONA did. But she is among those who most viewers want to see in an interview. She’s an attention grabber and a ratings magnet. Case in point: her appearance on The Bottomline with Boy Abunda wherein the celebrity talkshow host did nothing but defend and praise his interviewee, was among the show’s top-rated and most-talked about episodes.
No contest here though, as Soho is a first-rate journalist, whereas Abunda is a celebrity talkshow host. Soho is fair while Abunda most of the times inject his personal bias into his subject.
