GMA Network’s second international channel, GMA Life TV, continues to widen its reach with four key launches during the last quarter of 2010.
Ably complementing the programming of GMA’s flagship international channel GMA Pinoy TV, GMA Life TV features top-notch news and public affairs, entertainment, and lifestyle programs catering to Pinoys all over the world.
Two launches took place this November, both within the first week.
On Nov. 4, GMA Life TV was launched in Canada via MTS All-Stream. Meanwhile, selected GMA Life TV programs began airing in the United Kingdom since Nov. 7 via Pinoy Europe IPTV. This was made possible by Orbit Showtime Network in partnership with Infinity IPTV.
Just before the year ends, GMA Life TV is expected to continue spicing up the lives of Filipinos in the U.S. as it penetrates New York and Illinois. Soon, Pinoy viewers in these areas will get the chance to share in the dynamic programming that GMA Life TV brings as Time-Warner New York and Comcast Chicago start carrying the channel beginning Dec. 1 and 16, respectively.
Early next year, it will be Texas’ turn to welcome GMA Life TV as Comcast Houston launches the channel in January.
As of the 3rd quarter of 2010, GMA Life TV’s subscriber base has reached 126,000. The number of subscribers began to substantially increase when the channel was launched during the early part of this year in other areas such as Florida (via Brighhouse Tampa), Texas (via En-Touch), Hong Kong (via PCCW), and Central California (via Comcast).
“The increase of GMA Life TV subscribers can be attributed to the channel’s superior programming and the way it effectively responds to the under-served content needs of our carriers and, more importantly, our Kapuso viewers abroad,” said Joseph T. Francia, Vice President and Head of Operations for GMA International.
GMA Life TV features a good mix of program genres that highlight the vibrant life of Pinoys worldwide, including:
•cooking shows (Quickfire, Kitchen Battles, Healthy Cravings);
•talk shows (The Sweet Life, Full Time Moms, Tweetbiz);
•children’s shows (Kids on Q, Q Let’s and Co.);
•lifestyle programs (Fashionistas By Heart, House Life);
•newscasts (Balitanghali, News on Q); and
•public affairs programs (Ang Yaman ni Lola, Reunions, Tonight with Arnold Clavio).
These, among the other high-caliber programs shown on GMA Life TV, are produced locally by leading television station GMA Network and shown internationally through various carriers.—JV, GMANews.TV
