Actress Toni Gonzaga revealed that her next big project this year is a Filipino television version of “Maid in Manhattan” which originally featured Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez.
Gonzaga, who will be doing one of the stories for ABS-CBN’s upcoming afternoon series “Precious Hearts Romances: Ang Lalaking Nagmahal Sa Akin”, said that she is really excited about her upcoming series.
She says will surely capture everyone’s hearts with its light romantic themes.
“‘Yon din ang naisip ko actually, ‘Maid in Manhattan’ Hollywood version pero this is the Pinoy version talaga at makaka-relate ‘yong may mga ganitong pinagdadaanan. Pang-Pinoy talaga,” Gonzaga said.
The Hollywood film “Maid in Manhattan” tells the story of a rich hotel guest, played by Ralph Fiennes, who meets a seemingly rich socialite, played by Lopez, who is in reality just a hotel chambermaid. In a series of comic mishaps and elaborate deceptions, the two eventually fall in love.
Gonzaga, however, said that it took a long time for her to consider taking on a television projects since she had been busy concentrating on her hosting jobs and recording career.
“I concentrated on other things like singing and hosting and at the same time I did a movie last year. At pagkatapos ng pelikula, medyo naghinay-hinay din pero hindi completely igi-give up ang pag-acting kasi masarap ding umarte,” she said.
Gonzaga told abs-cbnNEWS.com that it was an honor for her to be given a chance to do another big television project especially one directed by well-known television and film director Wenn Deramas.
She also doesn’t mind that “Ang Lalaking Nagmahal Sa Akin” will be aired on an afternoon timeslot. “Okay lang kahit anong oras yan, kahit panghapon, tanghali o gabi okay sa akin basta may trabaho,” she said.
‘New leading man’
Meanwhile, Gonzaga said she is thrilled to be working for the first time with one of ABS-CBN’s favorite leading men, hunk actor Derek Ramsay.
“This time makaka-partner ko na siya, walang expectation im just really looking forward sa mga eksena namin at sa trabaho naming gagawin kasi feeling ko magiging maganda ‘yong kalalabasan niya at magdadala dito yung kwento mismo,” she said.
Gonzaga recalled that she only got the chance to see Ramsay whenever they would see each other briefly inside the ABS-CBN compound.
“Lagi kaming nagkikita sa compound ng ABS-CBN pero ano lang talaga kami ‘hi’ and ‘hello.’ Pinakamatagal na ‘yong one minute na magbatian kasi may kanya-kanya [kaming] trabaho, kanya-kanyang proyekto, so ‘hi’ and ‘hello’ lang,” she said.
Gonzaga and Ramsay had previously done a hosting job together for the defunct entertainment show “Entertainment Konek.”
