2008 has been quite a ride for Wowowee’s main man, Willie Revillame. From controversies to health issues, our most-loved ‘Papi’ had his shares to worries. And yet, he continues to bring joy to millions of our kababayans the world over. No wonder his presence leaves any audience in awe. Helping the show reach its optimum popularity is The Filipino Channel transmitting Wowowee to millions of viewers worldwide. What started as a noon-time variety show especially spotlighting the masses turned into one of the ultimate destination of any TFC subscriber making his homecoming. These balikbayans take this opportunity not only to see their favorite hosts in person but also to extend help to their less-fortunate compatriots in the studio. In 2005, Wowowee World Tour was launched making its first international mark in San Francisco, U.S.A. Since then, Wowowee has gone to several cities in the U.S. namely New York, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Reno, Chicago, Honolulu, New Jersey, San Diego and Texas, as well as in Sydney, Australia and Winnipeg, Canada. Its impact to the Filipino community is truly phenomenal. Listeners of all ages And what’s more interesting to note are the non-Filipino fans of the show who actively participate, enthusiastically joining the games, singing the songs (even if they were in Filipino), and recognize Papi Willie.
Willie’s fans in the Middle East patiently awaited their chance to catch the glimpse of this extravagant world tour. Four long years since their first show abroad, the long wait will finally be put to a close as Wowowee will stage its show in the UAE! This coming January, ABS-CBN Middle East and TFC World Tours will bring Papi, along with his witty and beautiful co-hosts and surprise special guests, to Dubai hinting the first ever Wowowee World Tour in the region! As we zero-in to THE DATE, expect a more exciting and out of the ordinary performances and surprises from Wowowee as it poses four significant celebrations: the Kick-off of Wowowee World Tours for 2009, the Opening Salvo of TFC Middle East for the 15th Anniversary of The Filipino Channel, the 4th Anniversary of Wowowee and Willie Revillame’s Birthday. Sing to Papi’s Ah Doo Doo Doo, Araw-Araw ay Pasko, Boom Tarat Tarat, Igiling-giling, Joke Joke Lang, Buksan Mo Papasukin Ako, Mamamasko Po and many more! If you enjoy watching the spectacular presentations of Filipino artists and the talented ASF Dancers, as well as the trademark games such as Bigat-10, Ituro Mo, Big Time Pera o Bayong, Willie of Fortune, Tanong Ko, Sagutin Mo and Pasalog on The Filipino Channel, make sure to see it LIVE in action at the Dubai Festival City (same venue as December’s Rakrakan Fest 2008) on January 30, 2009. Hi!! I went to Wowowee show yesterday in Dubai , my friends and I came straight from Abu Dhabi , we reached the venue at exactly 12noon which we knew that the gate will open on this time, we were so DISAPPOINTED when we saw the venue, it’s like a desert that they just put a stage on it. Given that the Ticket price is cheap (60dirhams.=780pesos) but they don’t have to treat people from Middle East like this. They had shows in the States and Canada and they held these in a venue where people can enjoy the show like in Arena/Stadium. What do they think about us people from the Middle East ? We can afford a hundred dollar ticket for a wonderful show of Wowowee instead of a cheap ticket for a stressful one. They tag you OFW when you work in the Middle East and when you work like in the states then they call you BALIKBAYAN. But the fact is that people who work in the Middle East are mostly Professionals like Engineers, Architects, Nurses, and most of the Filipinos here work in the offices. And we send more money to the Philippines which is a big help to the Philippines economic growth, compared to the immigrants/citizens from the States, since most of them are already with their families and they don’t have to send money monthly to the Philippines . So why treat us like this? The show was a disaster, it’s like trying to have fun while sacrificing… imagine that!? Anyway, going back to what I have experienced going to this Wowowee show, my friends and I just decided to go to a nearby mall and just waited there until 3pm because of so much heat that we cannot take at the venue. We went back to the venue at exactly 3pm and there were too many people inside, the height of the stage is low so the tendency is that people at the back would not be able to see anymore the artists performing on the stage especially when you are only 5’2 in height like I am. I kept on stretching my neck just to see the show. It was like only for a second to see the artists and then trying to tip my toes just to see them again and again, you cannot even go with the flow of the program since I kept on thinking what I should do or where we should stay just to see the performers. I wasn’t even able to see the production number of I think Valerie and Mr. Lito Camo even for a second. Guess what?! There were I think 2 or 3 big screens and when I was watching them on it I just realized that I’d rather watch Wowowee at home, relaxing while having coffee instead of going to that Wowowee show in Dubai while perspiring and having body ache that I almost passed out. Given that there were a lot of people who watched the show but I tell you that these people had 10% of happiness and 90% of unforgettable bad, mischievous, unsatisfied, stressful and nerve-racking experience. Why did the management of ABS-CBN and especially the family of Wowowee let this happened. It’s so discriminating to us Filipino People from the Middle EAST. We envy the Filipino people from the other countries like from the USA and Canada , you treat them so special and dearly, you see them wealthy or commonly called “SOSYAL” while Filipinos from the Middle East , you see us down-and-out or so called “JOLOGS”. OOPS! One thing more! When Mr.Willie Revillame welcomed the audience, he forgot to mention the people from ABU DHABI , he or the Wowowee management not even know that Abu Dhabi is the capital of UAE and how come they forgot to welcome us???
I just hope that this comment will reach Mr. Willie Revillame…
Thank you
I agree with the previous comment… I waited for 2 hours just to see willie and leave after an hour because i didn’t even see his hair… They set up a stage wherein the people at the back cannot see. They set up projectors but only 1 is working and its too small.. And as if it will work… hello its 3 pm….
So dont say that its a success because its not… When i went to the mall in dfc i can hear the filipinos saying that its not worth it and that they did not see willie.. Its a waste of time and money…
i pity those old kababayans and the kids… Im so scared that time that another stampede will happen.
You dont care about the people…. Its not organized…
I am calling all those people who watched to say ur comments…
I agree with you. wowowee show is sold out, around 20,000 people were there. sadly i have seen people leaving before the show started. i belive, it should have been better if the show started around 6pm… we were there too… we were almost near to the stage, unfortunately, we had to leave the place even before pera o bayong started coz we cant bear the heat and tiredness, standing and waiting for 3 hours is not worth it as most of our fellow kababayans eagerly pushing us from behind. They even started the show very late!!! hello we are not in Philippines, and all of us in Dubai are prompt. DFC is a new place for CONCERT!!! not a noontime show!!! and since this is the only place who can accomodate 20K people, they should have sold tickets by box type, not free standing. and ABS-CBN management should realise that most Filipinos living in Dubai are more sosyal than those in US or Europe. WHY? Because we can afford to spend holidays and visit Philippines once or twice a year… Kaya ba ng taga US yon??? NO, cause they cant afford it.
The whole family went to wowowee event last Friday.. We are all DISAPPOINTED AND DEFINITELY WE WILL STOP WATCHING ANY SHOW OF WOWOWEE SHOW. AND ORGANIZED BY THE TFC IN DUBAI. They are inhuman to organize a family show in the dessert under the heat of the sun, no chair, no proper entrance. And to the fact that many has no ticket but able to manage to go inside. Also, the did not start on time. People came their early in the morning with mix emotion like we are expecting that we will have fun in the show. Those organizers or even the producers must anticipated that audience will bring their childrens with them since it is a family show. To our surprise, the place is not even good for children. Every move you need it will cost you DHs. 5. The water is 5x expensive from the price in the grocery store.. and you have to buy wowowee shirt or jacket in order for you to be part of the pera o bayong.. its definitely a good business.. Willie keep on saying they came here to bring us joy.. I mean willie have you check the place? have you even notice the situation of the people and especially those children who are not lucky enought to be infront of the stage? and if you really want us to be happy why you allow your staff not to start on time? you fool us all. Probably you came here because of the money the show will earn with the tickets, souvenirs, rent, etc. If you want us all happy you should have arrange a schedule where people can sign autograph, take pictures and talk to them with you and your staff. You just keep on telling those words but its those are only for “Showbiz”! And also, to the ABS CBN.. you have given us a bigatin card and you are saying it is like a VIP card. in that said event how can we become a VIP? with the place you choose. You should set a place where we can enjoy your BIGATIN! Everything is business with you guys but not for the people. I am so disappointed with ABS CBN and WOWOWEE shows especially to the staff (Marielle, Pokwang, valery, etc.) except Mariposa and charice. They really shows their dedication of their job where they truly approach people and allow them to take pictures with them even i was not given an opportunity but seeing them loving their job is totally a cool person. Keep it up. For others, you might be artist and we are watching you in the tv but you shows no deidication it makes me feel you a low paid actresses..P.S. Starting Friday I did not watch your show and I even discourage my daughter to watch you. You make her look a fool on that show begging for one picture but you SNUB us..
it is indeed a disaster the Wowowee show in Dubai..the organisers were so greedy for the money, they dont care how the viewers/fans feel with the heat of the sun at 12nn.,bare in mind that we are not in december were approaching the summer heat..the ABS-CBN management itself as well dont bother to anticipate the crowd as they knew it weeks prior the show the ticket is almost sold out…wake up ABS-CBN TFC management…hope that Madame Charo Santos Concio who is present also in d show should opened her eyes widely so she can see how difficult for the viewers.,good for her coz she was sitting der on the big stage where they made for the VIP’s…and after the show the hosts riding with the white VAN..dey dont even bother to open the curtains from d inside so kahit plastikan lang sana nag wave sila sa kanilang mga kamay but d yan talaga nangyari..i appreciated Saicy coz she when gots down form d van she bothers to wave her hand..thanks Saicy..and d rest pati yong director na c Manahan na naka upo sa front seat ng van-deadma lang talaga…
How unprofessional and unethical of you people, that because of the noontime shows na pinag-aawayan nyo, the OFWs working “back-breakingly” hard here in the middle east would be put into such a demoralized state.
Is this the Filipino value that schools teach nowadays? Or talagang hindi kayo nakinig sa mga teachers nyo ng Values Education?
I am an OFW working here in Abu Dhabi. I planned to watch Wowowee in Dubai with my sister. But unfortunately, i had to work on Fridays. So i passed. If EB was there, i would have planned to watch too. Both noontime shows are famous in Pinas, and both lessen the feeling of being homesick para sa mga kababayan natin dito sa abroad. I am a proud pinoy because of these shows. They know how to entertain people not only in our own country, but pati na rin sa malalayong lugar na kailangan mo ng “kabayan” to think that you’re not alone, and that you can keep up with life kahit gaano kahirap ang bansang iniwan mo.
Now if these ideas wouldn’t be enough to get you off your usual ways of neverending and nonsensical fights, then you all suck!
It is good to patronize Filipino products and shows. However, on that day, you will not definitely feel you were treated as Filipino as they are calling as OFW and not kababayan. I hope people should know what is the different with these words. If you are an artists or a host you should feel how the people sacrifices to fall in line under the heat of the sun and waited for more than 2 hours to think that they will start on time. What makes it worst, they started 3:40 pm and they did not even apologize for the delay. See the photos.. can you stand for more than 2 hours in the crowd like that? And willie keep on saying they came to Dubai to make us happy, did everybody having time? actually we are all excited that the camera will come on our way so that our faces will be shown in the tv and our relatives in Philippines can see us. But focus again to the artist, your calling their names and you also expected that you can take their pictures especially those BIGATIN card holders, did those artist bother to say hi and acknowledge peoples request? It is so shameful to say this to your kababayan but we have to tell the truth so that they will improve it ( I hope so).. truly disappointing and shameful…
3:45 nag-start ang show (dapat 3pm) bakit kaya?
