YouTube sensations, collectively known as ‘Juan Direction,’ Daniel Marsh, Henry Edwards, Brian Wilson, Charlie Sutcliffe and Michael McDonnell are now heading to a newer, bigger and crazier adventure as they star in TV5’s newest weekly sitcom titled “One of the Boys.” Though they’re no strangers to the camera, this will be their very first try on acting on TV.
Their group name reminds one of a British boy band, although the members look and sound one. What is interesting about their individual ‘make-up’ is the Juan dela Cruz in them who, in his adult life, begins to discover what it’s like to become a Filipino in the truest sense. Juan Direction’s ‘Kiss for A Cause’ campaign which aimed to raise funds for the Supertyphoon Yolanda survivors made them more popular online.
Aside from the laughter and kilig the viewers can look forward to in “One of the Boys” will also highlight unique Filipino culture and values—something that is not often seen on television shows nowadays. Aside from ‘Juan Direction’ boys, “One of the Boys” also topbill veteran comedian and host Joey de Leon, who plays Daddy Jerry or ‘DJ’—the father figure of the whole cast in the sitcom and TV5 drama princess Eula Caballero plays Gabi Silang, DJ’s only daughter who grew up in the company of boys. Also included in the cast are Nadine Samonte (Jana Halliwel), Empoy (Aga), Benjo Leoncio (Marvic) and BJ ‘Tolits’ Forbes (Sunny).
